What is the spacebar counter record

It is no surprise that people love to set crazy world records. One record which has been gaining traction in the past few years is the spacebar record – the fastest time to press a spacebar key.

The current spacebar record was set in January of 2020 by 21-year old Sergey Kolesnik, a Russian esports player. His remarkable feat went viral after a video showing him setting the record was uploaded to YouTube. His time? Just 0.12 seconds! After verifying Kolesnik's prowess with the spacebar, Guinness World Records crowned him with the title of "Fastest Spacebar Typer."

How did Kolesnik do it? He trained for months, according to his teammate Yevgeni Korshunov. He practiced using special training applications on his PC and worked up his finger speed and timing just for this purpose. In order to be certified for the Guinness World Record, he had to successfully type in 50 repetitions of 8 symbols in 30 seconds – which he did with ease!

Kolesnik's incredible accomplishment motivated other aspiring record holders to break his 0.12-second marker. However, no one has been able to achieve this speed yet. They are all quite far off from what can often be considered an impossible feat!
